One of the things that really surprised me is the remoteness of some of the villages we passed. Two to three days walking to the nearest village that was reachable by car was no exception. One of the consequences of this was that we were considered to be the walking doctors. Indeed, we carried more sterile material than what these folks saw in their entire lifetime. Helping them with small (and not so small) injuries was hence something that stopped our walking for a while... and offered some of the rare occasions to take a portrait.
